Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie Tardy Patterson Brewer – For all of you that know me, I have to do it my way! Yes, I wrote my own obituary. On this date, Nov. 16, 2015, I left this earth for better parts unknown leaving behind my loving and cherished husband, Howard Patterson of Brewer. Although our time together was short, it was the most special portion of my life. I did lose my parents, Joseph and Elaine Tardy of Newport way to young in life. I am survived by my brother, Robert Tardy and his wife, Marilyn of Palmyra; my sister, Jo Ann Calderbank and her partner, Everett Brown of Westbrook; six nieces and nephews, Josh Tardy and his wife, Mary Ellen of Newport, Jason Tardy and his wife, Sherri of Palmyra, Jared Tardy and his wife, Amy of Byfield, MA, Jessica Tardy of Cambridge, MA, Douglas Calderbank and his wife, Keri of Windham, Jenn Studer and her husband, Scott of Georgetown, MA; three step daughters, Lisa Cali and her husband, Dan of Dublin, Ireland, Sara Patterson of Flagstaff, AZ, Angela Patterson of Jarna, Sweden; uncles and aunts, Alton and Sylvia Tardy of Newport, Janice Wesley of Lakeland, FL, Maude Smith of Newport; many cousins including The Dionne Family Members in Skowhegan. I graduated from Nokomis High School in Newport in 1973 followed by a year at the Univ. of Maine, Orono and then found my calling. After completing a course at Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston, I worked for ten years in a variety of floral shops before opening Marie’s Flowers in Brewer which I owned and managed for 25 years. During this time, my proudest accomplishment was achieving my AIFD, receiving the Ed Johnson Award and winning a variety of designer of the year competitions from MSFA. As a member of the Brewer Eagles Club, I much enjoyed working with the Auxiliary and being a member of the interviewing committee. I was also a member of the Elks Club, Bangor and I enjoyed gardening and camping. I would like to thank all who sent cards and their prayers and thoughts. Family and friends may visit 1 -3 PM Saturday, Nov. 28, 2105 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer with a celebration of my life immediately afterward at the Brewer Eagles Club, 22 Atlantic Ave., Brewer. In lieu of flowers, my wish is for you to give somebody you love some flowers from a locally owned flower shop and, when you do, think of me, my dilly beans, pea soup, owls and coffee brandy and do it with a smile on your face.
