Obituary of Teresa Roberta Mooney
BANGOR – Teresa R. Mooney, 92, crossed over into Eternal Life, on Thursday, July 27, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born October 22, 1924, the tenth of eleven children of Patrick J. and Mary Agnes (Shaughnessy) Mooney.
Teresa was employed by the State of Maine Department of Health and Welfare (now DHHS) before becoming a legal secretary in the law office of her brother, from where she retired in 1989. She was a member of the St. Paul the Apostle Women's Council, the Current Events Club, the Maine Association of Retirees and several professional organizations. She was a lifelong communicant of St. John's Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Teresa was predeceased by sisters Margaret, Catherine, Mary Agnes (Mooney) Richard, Julia E. Mooney and Josephine (Mooney) Morris; brothers John, Thomas, Daniel, James A. and Edward Mooney; nieces Margaret Morris, Catherine Richard; nephews James Morris and Matthew Mooney. Surviving are loving nephews Edward Morris, Patrick S. Mooney, Daniel Mooney, Michael Joseph Mooney, Patrick J. Mooney, James A. Mooney, Jr., Francis Mooney, and Thomas Mooney; nieces Mary Julia Richard, Ann (Mooney) Duchynski, Patricia (Mooney) Hughes, Mary P. (Morris) Shorey, Jean T. (Mooney) Harrison, Mary M. (Mooney) Mueller, P. Madonna Mooney, Claire J. Mooney; many grand nieces and nephews. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Paula P. Mooney and Marilyn Catt.
Family and friends are invited to visit 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union Street, Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM, Wednesday, August 2 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John's Catholic Church, 217 York, St., Bangor. Burial will take place following the service at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. A reception will be held in the church hall following the burial. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Parish for the benefit of St. John's Catholic Church or to a charity of one's choice.
