Obituary of Agnes M. Whitaker

Bangor - Agnes M. Whitaker, 96, wife of the late Harold Whitaker, died Aug. 24, 2017 in Bangor. She was born Sept 26, 1920 in Winterport, the daughter of Edward D. and Nellie (Marden) Cochran.

Agnes and Harold had a dairy farm for many years in Brooks, ME where they had many friends. She enjoyed working in her garden and picking wild berries with friends and her nephews.  They sold the farm in 1980 and moved to Bangor where Agnes worked in retail sales for Ames department stores.  In her later years Agnes enjoyed reading her bible, and visits from friends, relatives including her great, and great, great nieces and nephews.  She also enjoyed attending Kenduskeag Union Church when she could.

Agnes is survived her brother Edward Cochran and his wife Virginia of Marshfield, MA and their children Edward, and Virginia,  nephews Richard Sjogren, Carl Sjogren, Daniel Costa, Michelle Costa and numerous great and great, great nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by her sisters, Jeannette Costa and Virginia Sjogren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 2 at 12 noon at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. Burial will follow at Pilgrim’s Home Cemetery, Monroe.
