Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank D. Sargent Brewer – Frank D. Sargent, 98, passed away peacefully, Feb. 6, 2016 at a St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor. He was born June 16, 1917 in Winter Harbor, ME, the son of Charles and Emily Sargent. Frank was a strong man who worked in the local area all of his life as a truck driver and was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was very proud of his family and spent the last several years living at the Leach Home in Brewer. He enjoyed his many friends there and always had a new joke to tell them all. Several years ago Frank wrote, “After working 42 years driving truck, I retired to enjoy a lot of hunting and fishing until I got too old to it anymore. So now I just tell stories and drink coffee with my friends.” One of Frank’s favorite adventures was taking Legacy Sandwiches to Bottle Lake to visit the Dysarts. Frank was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Meriel and by his two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Ken Whitney of Brewer; his grandson, Scott Thompson and his wife, Cindy of Florida and his granddaughter, Lori Thompson of Texas; great grandchildren, Kasey Hewey of Portland, Ryan and Taylor Thompson; one brother, Earl of Westbrook and a sister-in-law, Bertha Ellis of Florida; several nieces and nephews. Frank’s family gratefully thanks everyone at the Ellen Leach Home and St. Joseph Hospital for the wonderful support and care they have give to Frank and his family during his recent decline in health. Meriel and Frank always wanted their memorial service to be together and their wishes will be honored at Noon Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer where family and friends may visit from 11 AM to 12 PM. Pastor Andrew Geaghan will preside and a Masonic memorial service and military honors will be held. A gathering time at Bonnie’s home with fellowship and refreshments will be immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 477 Congress St., Suite M1, Portland, ME 04101 or a maine.wish.org. Shared memories and messages may be offered at kileyandfoley.com. “Every day I am remembered and our life’s journey is really about the people that touch us.”
