Russell Leigh Scribner BREWER - Russell Leigh Scribner, 57, died at the Maine Veterans' Home on November 1, 2015. He was born July 7, 1958, in Bangor, the son of Richard L. Scribner and Phyllis E. (King) Scribner. Russ graduated from Brewer High School in 1976, obtained a degree in Civil Engineering Technology at the University of Maine and served 2 years in the United States Army at Fort Stewart, GA. Russ grew up on Parkway North in Brewer during a time when you knew all of your neighbors. Every possible hour was spent playing outside with other neighborhood kids. Interests included Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, band, and special times with family at Chemo Pond. He was a quiet, thoughtful man with a big heart and a dry sense of humor. He spent 30 years working in Georgia in the field of construction materials testing before relocating back to Brewer in 2011. Russ was always ready to play a game of cribbage, watch football or help a friend or neighbor. Russ is survived by his sisters, Diane Stimpson and her husband Lee of Glenburn and Lynn Poulin and her husband Keith of Timnath, CO, his nephews Capt. Craig Poulin, USAF and his wife Katie of Madison, WI and Neil Poulin of Denver, CO, his uncles Alan King of Brewer, Claude Scribner and Roland Scribner of Lee, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father in 2000 and his mother in 2013. A special thank you to the staff of Unit C at the Maine Veterans' Home. To honor his wishes, there will be no services. The family suggests that those who wish to remember Russ in a special way may send donations to either Habitat for Humanity, 814 Mimosa Blvd, Bldg C, Roswell, GA 30075 or Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bangor, 83 Washington St, Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
