Obituary of Madeline Ann Glidden

Please share a memory of Madeline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Madeline Ann Glidden Brewer – Madeline Glidden, 74, lost her recent battle with cancer and passed away peacefully in her home on June 18, 2016. Madeline was born in Bangor, Maine on October 8, 1942 to Martin and Rose (Grard) Glidden. She is survived by her brother Carl and wife, Rose Glidden, of Virginia Beach, Virginia and a sister-in-law, Debbie Glidden, of Point Harbor, North Carolina, as well as by many friends throughout the community. She is predeceased by her brother Robert “Bobby” Glidden of Point Harbor, North Carolina. Madeline loved Bobby and he adored her. Madeline had a contagious energy, a wonderful sense of humor and love of life that was an inspiration to so many who knew her. With courage and a positive outlook, we watched her rise above significant adversity and challenges in her own life. She loved Elvis Presley, music, singing and dancing, Bingo, UNO, bowling, playing games and, of course, she loved handsome men! She enjoyed attending Ralph Leek Elders program each week and Camp Capella each summer. Madeline also enjoyed doing things for others. After leaving her family at the age of seven and spending much of her childhood residing at Pineland Center, Bangor Mental Health Institute and several boarding and foster homes, Madeline has been supported by OHI for the past 33 years. Madeline will be dearly missed by those who have supported her and developed relationships with her throughout the years. A special ‘Thank You’ goes to Dr. Berg and to Beacon Hospice for their care and concern during her recent illness. A celebration of Madeline’s life will be held at OHI, Twin City Plaza in Brewer on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 3:00 PM with a graveside service following at North Carmel Cemetery, Carmel. In remembrance of Madeline, please wear your beads. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. Messages and memories may be shared with her friends and family at kileyandfoley.com.
