Obituary of Mary L. Topel
Mary L. Topel, 94, wife of the late Kenneth A. Topel, Sr., died peacefully January 24, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She was born Sept 27, 1930 in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Gerhard and Emma (Wruck) Langneff.
Mary grew up in Germany where she met and married her husband, Kenneth while he served in the US Army in the 1950’s. Ken and Mary came to Maine in 1958 and they always looked forward to their many visits to Berlin, Germany. Mary worked for many years at Paul’s Restaurant and as an executive assistant for the Airport Hilton. Mary also worked for over 20 years as a tax preparer for H & R Block in Bangor. She loved to travel, read and spend time with family
Surviving are two children, Kenneth Topel, Jr. and his wife, Jana of Windham and Shirley Hincks and her husband, Walter of Orrington; five grandchildren, Maggie and Avery Topel, Erin Wright, Brandy Padgett and her husband, Steven, Rebecca Ireland and her husband, Dayerrick; three great grandchildren, William and James Padgett and Wyatt Ireland; she is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Patricia Topel and Lynn Topel as well as several nieces and nephews all from the Midwest.

A private graveside service and burial will be held in the spring at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie. Messages and memories of Mary may be shared with her family on the tribute wall of kileyandfoley.com.
