Obituary of Dale J. Erickson

Dale J. Erickson, 61, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025 at Brentwood Center for Health and Rehab in Yarmouth, Maine. He had suffered several occurrences of pneumonia. 

 

Dale was born in Brunswick, Maine in 1963 to Sylvia (Gaudet) Damone and Richard Erickson. Over his lifetime he lived in Freeport, Portland, Westbrook, Gray and Yarmouth.

  

Dale attended Freeport High School, Class of 1981. He played guitar and sang vocals in a band and played baseball in high school. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing with his grandparents at Moosehead Lake. He was employed by W. L. Blake in Portland until 1988 when he was critically injured on the job. After that as a triplegic Dale led a particularly challenging life courageously.  Dale always had an avid interest in sports and music, particularly the Beatles. He felt very fortunate to have attended a Paul McCartney concert at Fenway Park in 2013. In his later years he was able to play the guitar. His hobbies were collecting sports memorabilia and listening to music. 

 

Dale was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his uncle Edward Gaudet and his wife Paula of Winthrop, and his aunt Dianne Gaudet and her husband Stephen Norton of Freeport. The family is appreciative of the care given by Brentwood, Compass Concierge and Constellation Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 PM Monday, June 2, 2025 at St.Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor with an interment afterward at Mt.
