Joseph P. Gallant, 93, husband of the late Rita M. Gallant, died February 27, 2025 in Bangor after a brief illness. He was born Sept 8, 1931 in Portland, the son of Joseph H. and Julia (Beaulieu) Gallant.

Joe was a graduate of Cheverus High School in Portland and was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War era.  He worked for many years for Burrough Corporation. Joe was a longtime communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish where he was active in different areas of church life including serving the funeral ministry, music/choir, and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed cross country skiing, music, gardening and playing cards.

Surviving are six children, Martin J. Gallant and his wife, Mary of Ellsworth, Mary E. Gallant of Bangor, Karen J. Campbell and husband Vern, of Clifton, Joseph P. Gallant, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Portland, David J. Gallant of Biddeford and John J. Gallant and his wife, Lisa of Rothesay, NB, Canada; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Doreen Cook of South Portland; nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his wife Rita; a granddaughter, Sarah Gallant; siblings, Eileen Daicy, Lorraine Crawford, Joan Lancia and John Gallant.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, March 6, 2025 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio St., Bangor where mass will be livestreamed from the parish website, HERE A reception to be followed immediately afterward and burial at Mt.
