Heidi Cobb

Obituary of Heidi Cobb

If you are reading this, I have passed away from cancer. I was born on May 19, 1966, in Camden, Maine, to David and Albertress Stearns.

I graduated from Camden-Rockport High School in 1984 and Husson College in 1988. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education. After teaching at Monmouth Academy for one year, I decided to return to Bangor and gained employment with Neurology Associates of Eastern Maine.

While employed for Neurology, I worked as a receptionist, medical secretary, insurance biller, and I eventually became the Accounts Receivables Department Coordinator. I enjoyed working there very much and considered Neurology to be my work family. It was also while employed there that I met the love of my life, John, and in May of 2024, we celebrated 30 years of marriage. He installed the phone system, and boy, did we make a connection!

In 2001, we welcomed our son Johnny into our family. I have always felt that where a door closes, God opens a window. In this particular case, I feel this could not be more true. He graduated from UMO in May of 2024 with his own Bachelor of Science Degree, and his Dad and I are very proud.

In later years, I became a caregiver to my elderly parents and my dear brother, Wayne, who passed away in 2017 after his own battle with cancer at 56.

John, Johnny and I spent many years traveling, hiking, biking and boating. We were an outdoorsy family (I am not sure Johnny would agree).  We spent years helping maintain the trails on Holbrook Island in Brooksville. John and I really enjoyed this activity, and while we were there, we could feel the serenity. I also spent a year as a Literacy Volunteer to honor my Mom.

I regret leaving you, John and Johnny. I have loved our time together, and John, I want you to know that when your time comes, I will be waiting with my arms wide open. You are my soul mate, and I love you dearly. Johnny, you have made me so proud. I look forward to watching from Heaven to see what great things you accomplish. I am so happy you have Katelyn.

I would like to send a special thank you to my sister, Roberta, for helping me during this difficult time. I love you.

I was predeceased by my parents, David and Albertress Stearns and my brother, Wayne Stearns. I am survived by the love of my life, John Cobb of Holden; my son, Johnny Cobb of Holden and his fiancée, Katelyn Wheldon of Brewer; my sister, Roberta Philbrook Tooley of Portland; brother David Stearns and his wife Linda of Appleton; mother-n-law Linda Simpson of Bangor; sister-n-law Stella Flewelling and her husband Rob of Millinocket; many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to all the people who supported me through this very difficult time. Contributions in my memory can be made to Literacy Volunteers of Bangor, 354 Hogan Rd., Bangor, ME  04401.

A funeral service will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.  Family and friends are invited to visit from 10 A.M. until the service begins.  Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
