Roseann L. Brooks Obituary

Roseann L. (Hayden) Brooks

Orrington – Roseann L. Brooks, 79, beloved wife of Richard P. Brooks, passed away on September 21, 2025, at the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Roseann was born on June 16, 1946, in Bangor, the daughter of William H. and Mary H. (Cunningham) Hayden. She graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School in 1964 and attended St. Teresa Catholic School in South Brewer.

Over the years, Roseann worked at Columbia Market, Doug’s Shop 'n Save, and eventually retired from Hannaford Supermarkets. A devout Catholic and longtime communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, she attended St. Teresa Catholic Church in Brewer, where she was an active member. Roseann served as a Eucharistic Minister, sang in the choir, and was a devoted member of St. Teresa’s Sodality.

Roseann was truly a remarkable woman—kind, selfless, and full of compassion. She believed deeply in the goodness of others and brought joy wherever she went. Her beautiful voice touched the hearts of many; she sang at countless weddings and funerals, and if there was a live microphone nearby, you could bet it was in her hand. She was the ultimate volunteer—always the first to lend a hand or organize a fundraiser, with her sleeves rolled up and ready to help. Even after retirement, she continued to serve her community through the Salvation Army soup kitchen; the local food pantry, and wherever help was needed. Her mission was simple: to spread love as far and as wide as she could.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard, of Orrington; three children: Kelly Brooks of Orrington, Sean Brooks and his wife Amy of Orrington, and Daniel Brooks and his wife Katrina of Gilford, New Hampshire; seven cherished grandchildren: Leah and Audra Brooks, Hayden, Connor, and Samuel Bay, and Patrick and Kahlan Brooks. She is also survived by her brother, David Hayden, and three sisters, Bonnie Murphy, Margaret Hayden, and Michelle Bragdon, along with many nieces and nephews.

Roseann was predeceased by her brother, Donald Hayden, and her sister, Mariam Davis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 pm Monday, September 29, 2025 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa Catholic Church, South Main St., Brewer. A time of visitation and a reception will follow the service. All are welcome to share stories of Roseann. The Burial will be held at a later date.

In keeping with Roseann’s spirit of service, memorial contributions may be made to the Orrington Public Library, 15 School Street, Orrington, ME 04474.
