Remembering

Douglas James Alekshun

In sadness, we share that Douglas passed away in New Mexico in an unavoidable motorcycle accident with an elk. 

We take comfort in knowing he was doing what he loved and that he did not suffer. 

He was loved beyond measure by his parents, Steven and Valerie Alekshun; his sister and brother-in-law, Caitlyn and Evan Polisky; his brother, Kenneth Alekshun; his grandparents; extended family; and many friends. 

There will be an evening to remember Doug from 4 to 6pm  Monday, January 5, 2026 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State Street, Brewer, Maine 04412. There will also be a memorial ride in NM planned for some time in March, allowing for his family here to participate. Doug will be privately laid to rest with family in the spring. In lieu of flowers, we are asking donations be made toward the ongoing care of Doug’s three beloved dogs that he leaves behind, Liberty, Papas, and Bo.  Donations may be sent by check in Doug’s name to the funeral home or directly to his family. 

Douglas, you are loved, “more than life itself.” You remain always in our hearts. Safe in the arms of Jesus until we meet again.
