Margaret Rose Kelly, age 84, of Bangor passed away December 31, 2025. Margaret was born March 26, 1941, the daughter of George and Martha (McHale) Kelly.
Margaret graduated from St. Mary’s and John Bapst High School, Bangor Me. She started her banking career in Murfreesboro, TN while living with her sister Francis and husband Charles. Returning to Maine, she worked at the Portland Saving Bank for several years. When she returned to Bangor, she poured her heart into her work at Bangor Savings Bank, building a remarkable 30‑year career in Customer Service. People were naturally drawn to her; her kindness, her patience, and the genuine way she connected with everyone who walked through the door. Many became customers simply because they felt seen, understood, and cared for by her. Margaret was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Parish in Bangor, ME., where she served faithfully as a Eucharistic minister and as a greeter at funerals. Her compassion extended far beyond the church walls; she volunteered as a hospice companion at EMMC and gave her time to the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen and the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter. Wherever she went, she offered love, empathy, and gentle kindness to ease the suffering of others. Her calm, caring spirit, her deep faith and love of God touched every person she met. She was a lifelong resident of Bangor and a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Margaret was also proud of her Irish heritage and made several memorable trips to Ireland with family.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents; four brothers Patrick, Roland, Lawrence, and Reverend Anthony Kelly; three sisters Theresa Kelly, Frances Murray and husband Charles, and Helen Colford. She is survived by one sister, Corena Kelly of Bangor, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, including a special affection and love for AnJuli, Brianna and Lillie. A special thanks to the team of professionals at Westgate Center for Rehabilitation and Alzheimer’s Care, Union St., Bangor.
