Robert A. Vachon, “Pappy” 92, husband of Nancy J. (Dicentes) Vachon passed January 23, 2026 at a Bangor hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 7, 1933 in South Brewer, the son of Arthur J. and Frances M. (Boyce) Vachon.

Bob graduated from Brewer High School in 1951. He was a Korean War veteran of US Army was past Commander of the James W. Williams American Legion Post #12 and was a member of the Knight of Columbus. He worked at Mack Baking and Harris Baking as a salesman and he retired from B & L Auto Parts at age 80. He married the love of his life, Nancy, in 1957 and they made their home in Orrington for 61 years. Bob enjoyed coaching baseball and basketball for the O. R. A. Bob or Pappy, as he was known to his grandchildren, was a fun loving, hardworking man who loved his family more than anything.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy of Brewer; three children, David Vachon and his wife, Roberta of Bangor, Nancy McEwen of Brewer and Robert “Bobby” Vachon and his wife, Thuy of Brewer; eight grandchildren David (Jennifer), Matthew (Kristina), Anthony (Taryn), Adam (Renee), Eric (Cassidy), Dylan, Jessica (Daren) Orne, Emily (Tyler) King;  11 great grandchildren, Kaden, Abby, Camrynn, Brody, Liberty, Sam, Ginny, Lottie, Dahlia, Damaris and Margaret; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Vachon and Donna (Bob) Whitehouse; several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by his childhood best friend, John Wedin and special friend, Michele Butera. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his siblings, Raymond, Donald and William Vachon and Marie Carrigan.
