Rose M. Long Obituary

Our beloved mother and Gigi, Rose Mary Long, was called to her eternal home on May 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81.  She was the youngest child of Paul J. Shanley, Sr. and Elizabeth C. (Pomeroy) Shanley, and was raised by her maternal grandmother in South Brewer.

She was an independent, self-sacrificing, and deeply devoted mother who raised 3 children. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her life's joy - there was rarely a day that was not spent with one of us.  Mom enjoyed local thrift shops, harness racing, scratch tickets, gardening, and old western movies.

Mom's legacy lives on in us, her children, Patricia and Weymouth Wilson of Orrington: grandchildren, Zachary and Nikole Wilson, Matthew and Danica Wilson, and Samuel Wilson all of Orrington; Anthony and Carol Long of Eddington: grandchildren, Brittany and Tom Wood of Eddington, and Robert Jordan of Hermon; Norman and Marcia Long of Eddington: grandchildren, Mariah Long of Bangor, Caleb and Kaylee Long of Bradley, and their mother, Stacey (Miller) Long, Kyle Shaw of Eddington, and Andrea and Jesse Pelkey of Madisonville, Tennessee.  She is survived by 11 beloved great grandchildren: Zachary, Blair, Wyatt, Annelise, Silas, Layah, Claytin, Presley, Wesley, Jaxon, Ever, as well as many nieces and nephews, including Gilbert Melendez, with whom she had a special relationship and a special canine, Lola Bean Wilson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 PM Monday, June 15, 2026 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa's Catholic Church, S. Main St. Brewer with committal to follow at Mt.
