Obituary of Elaine Ramona Norris

Winterport - Elaine Ramona (White)Norris, 74, wife of Philip W. Norris, died Oct 4, 2016 in Brewer with her husband and two daughters by her side after a 10 years battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She was born on Beals Island, Sept. 2, 1942, the daughter of Basil and Dorothy (Norton) White. She grew up in Winterport and attended Winterport schools. She went on to get her GED in her mid 30's and was a stay at home mother. She was the bookkeeper for their three businesses as well as housekeeper for their home and did all the outside work as well. She was never idol and never sat down. Elaine was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved gardening, dogs, cats and birds. At one time she had 24 birds and was known as the Bird Lady. For many years, she also operated their gas business on their property and many in Winterport remember her for her gift of gab while filling their tanks. She was beautiful and vivacious with a quick wit. She is survived by her husband, Philip Norris of 55 years; two daughters, Deborah Lee Norris of Winterport and Susan Irene Norris Fearon of Hampden; one grandson, Davis Anthony Fearon of Bangor. She was predeceased by her son, Steven Philip Norris, her mother Dorothy White and by her brothers, Arden and Marvin White. Her family would like to thank the many wonderful staff members of Brewer Center for Health and Rehab with a special thank you to Bev, Eleanor and Theresa. A graveside service will be held 10 AM Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery and a remembrance gathering will be immediately afterward at their home on Main St. in Winterport.
