Beatrice “Bea” Burns
Brewer – Beatrice “Bea” Burns, 79, wife of the late Harvey V. “Bud” Burns, died Feb. 15, 2017 in Brewer after a brief illness with her family at her side. She was born Dec. 27, 1937 in Brewer, the daughter of Frederick C. and Nellie (McDonald) Wood.
Bea, as she was known, worked as a waitress for many years beginning her career at age 15 at Union Station in Bangor retiring at age 70. She was also a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, #3177, Brewer.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years in 2014. Surviving are three children, Vickie J.Deacon of Brewer, Harvey F. “Buddy” Burns and his wife, Nancy of Eddington and Craig T. Burns of Brewer; six grandchildren, Jennifer Benson and her husband, Anders of Kingfield, Roy Burns and his wife, Jennifer Kramer of Hollywood, CA, Craig T. Burns of Brewer, Thomas Burns of Eddington, Jesse Burns of Brewer and Josiah Burns of Bangor; one great grandson, Stig Benson of Kingfield; two sisters, Phyllis Elliott of Brewer and Rose Sproul and her husband, Bruce of Brewer; two sisters-in-law, Betty Burgess of Bangor and Donna Dumont and her husband, James of Corinth; a special cousin, Ivan Wallace and his wife, Patricia of Dover-Foxcroft; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by her attentive neighbor and friend, Larry O’Brien.
Family and friends may visit 4 – 7 PM Monday, February 20, 2017 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A graveside committal and burial will be held in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. Messages and memories may be shared with Bea’s family at kileyandfoley.com.
