Obituary
Obituary of Wayne K. Stearns
Bucksport - After a courageous battle with cancer, Wayne K. Stearns, 56, passed away at the Togus Veteran's Hospital on Feb. 18, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born June 16, 1960, in Camden, ME, to David and Albertress Stearns.
After graduating from Camden-Rockport High School in 1978, Wayne worked for a short time at Camden National Bank. In 1979, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for 8 years. In 1987, Wayne returned to Maine and eventually moved to Bangor. He began a more than 25-year career with N.H. Bragg and Sons. He made many lasting friendships while working there. He worked as an Assistant Supervisor for the Machine Shop, and he worked as a Road Service Repair Technician. Like his father, Wayne considered himself a "Jack Of All Trades, Master Of None."
While living in Bangor, he met and was married to Cathy Stearns. He was very proud of her children, Michelle Randall and Chris Nill. Wayne was a very generous and kind man. He always tried to lend advice or a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Wayne was predeceased by father David Stearns. He is survived by mother Albertress Stearns of Brewer; brother David Stearns and wife Linda of Appleton; sisters Roberta Philbrook Tooley of Zephyrhills, FL, Heidi Cobb and husband John of Holden; many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to Lew Cleveland and his wife Darlene. Wayne considered you, Lew, to be his, "Brother From Another Mother." Your friendship and support through the years meant a lot to him. We would also like to thank Wayne's neighbors, Ray and Tina Monreal, for their friendship and support of Wayne. Finally, we would like to thank the caring staff at the Togus VA Medical Center.
Family and friends may visit 11 AM – 1 PM Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a service will take place at the conclusion of visitation, including full military honors.
