Edward R. Potter, Sr.
Bangor – Edward R. Potter, Sr., 74, husband of Barbara A. (Demmons) Potter, passed away unexpectedly on April 11, 2017 in Bangor after a period of declining health. He was born Sept 28, 1942 in Bangor, the son of Myrtle (Potter) Murphy. Ed adored his family and was proud of each and every one of them. He took his marriage vows with sincere conviction and his love for his wife grew stronger with each passing year. They were always there for each other. He loved following the baseball seasons of his son Ed and later his grandson Christopher. He was delighted with the girls in his life, “His” Barbie, “Daddy’s Little Girl”, Tammy, “Grampie’s Girls” Madi, Jess and Kerisa and his special relationship with his daughter-in-law Missi. He enjoyed his talks with his son-in-law, Tom and looked forward to hearing about future accomplishments of his grandson, Maxx. Ed enjoyed special times with each of his grandchildren and especially enjoyed picking up his granddaughter Madisson from Bangor Christian Schools. He had a great love for his “Florida Family” and held a sense of pride in being the oldest of nine siblings. Ed will be missed by his longtime friend, Jerry Crowley. Ed loved his country and was proud of those who served, both as military and as first responders. Above all else, he loved the Lord.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years, are two children, Edward R. Potter, Jr and his wife, Melissa of Holden, Tammy L. Higgins and her husband, Thomas of Bangor and 4 grandchildren, Christopher Potter and his wife, Kerisa of Bangor, Jessica Madden and her husband, Justin of Brewer, Maxim Higgins and Madisson Higgins both of Bangor; one great grandson, Reece of Brewer; three brothers, Carl, Bill and David Murphy all of Florida; two sisters, Kathy Roberts of Florida and Patty Harville of Alabama; several special cousins, nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his mother and by three brothers, Wayne, Jim and Rick Murphy.
