Obituary of Vera Alberta Pelkey

Orrington—Vera A. (Dorr Grant) Pelkey, 81, passed away after a long illness December 13, 2017. She was born April 16, 1936, in Harrington, the daughter of Bernard and Etta Dorr.

Vera was a loving mother and wife who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She enjoyed playing poker with her brothers and sisters and family on Saturday nights. She never passed up a bargain at a yard sale or while shopping. Her favorite times were spent with family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; first husband Elwood Grant; siblings and spouses Earl and Maxine Dorr of Harrington, Melvin and Alice Door of Harrington, and Edward and Elaine Dorr of Gouldsboro. She is survived by husband Donald P. Pelkey, Sr.; sons Leon and wife Valerie Grant of Brewer, Mark and wife Beverly Grant of Bucksport, Brian Grant and significant other Florence Smith of Hermon, Gray and wife Joanne Grant of Orrington, Donald Jr. and wife Sharon Pelkey of Orrington, Danny and wife Laurie Pelkey of Brewer; sister Arlene Hartford and husband Pete; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 4 PM, Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Lighthouse Church of God, 696 River Road, Orrington. Following the service, family and friends are invited to visit until 6 PM.
