Obituary of Robina M. Mahaney

Robina M. Mahaney, 81, died January 20, 2018 in Bangor after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 27, 1936 in Bangor, the daughter of Richard G. and Rose V. (Chiavelli) Rist.  Robina attended St. John’s School and was a 1954 graduate of John Bapst High School.  She worked in the family business, The Coffee Pot, on State St., Bangor until she married Tom Mahaney and moving to Lewiston where Tom taught school. During retirement years, Robina and Tom moved back to Bangor and she worked part time. She was also a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Her family extends a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph Hospital for their loving care.

Surviving are her brother, Francis X. “Skip” Rist and her sister, Mary Lou Rist both of Bangor; sisters-in-law, June Mahaney of Augusta and Barbara Mahaney of Syracuse, NY; Donna Roelof of Fredericksburg, VA who was thought of as a daughter; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, Thomas F. Mahaney, Robina was predeceased by, a brother, Richard G. Rist and by a sister, Rosemary Rist.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Burial will be at Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor and a time of friendship and refreshments will follow in the parish hall.
