Orrington & Calais—Nola Jean Scott, 84, passed away November 26, 2018. She was born April 6, 1934, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the daughter of Walter A. and Ellen (Lucas) Scott.

She graduated from Calais High School, Class of 1952. She was employed by the U.S. Government for 32 years. Her early career took her to Groton, Connecticut where she worked at SUPSHIP. After a few years she transferred to Dow A.F.B. in Bangor. She retired from the Social Security Administration. Nola was an accomplished horse woman in both riding and training. She always loved and showed her dogs. Her dog breeds included Great Danes, German Shepherds, Tibetan Mastiffs, Border Collies and Shelties. Nola was a member of The Penobscot Kennel Club. She loved attending The Orrington Center Church when she was able.

Nola was predeceased by her parents; younger brother William E. Scott; nephew William W. Scott. She is survived by niece Deborah and husband David Thompson of Bangor; nephew Don Scott and wife Cynthia of Bangor; nephew Michael Scott; grand nephews Chris, Anthony, Sam, Nick Scott; great great niece Brayleigh; sister-in-law Mary Lyons.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brewer Rehab for the many years of care they provided. Those who wish to remember Nola in a special way may make gifts in her memory to The Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.

There will be a celebration of life and a burial service later in the spring at the Calais Cemetery family plot.
