Obituary of Armand S Andrle

Brewer--Dr. Armand S. Andrle was born in Buffalo NY, August 25, 1926, the eldest son of Armand F. and Kathleen H. (Stevens) Andrle. Armand graduated high school from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, Buffalo in 1944 and from the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1948. Armand and Gloria were married in 1950 and moved to Maine soon after. Dr. Andrle operated a general dentistry practice in Brewer until his retirement in 1996.  Armand, with his wife Gloria and their seven children, participated in family outings in the true Maine tradition: skiing, hunting and fishing, camping, hiking and white-water canoeing. They spent many enjoyable days on Branch Lake in Ellsworth, as well as their ski chalet in Carrabassett Valley. Armand was an avid outdoorsman, continuing to ski into his 80’s. 

 

He had a passion for music, played violin with his friends in a weekly soirée, and sang with the St. Joseph’s church choir as well as the New Renaissance Singers. He spoke fluent German, attending the Stammtisch group in Bangor. 

 

He is predeceased by wife Gloria Tiebor Andrle; brother Robert; eldest son Richard and granddaughter Lindsay A. Corro. Armand leaves behind children Thomas and fiancéeCandace Fontaine of Carrabassett Valley, Kathleen Andrle and husband Paul Gamache of Nashua, NH, Ellen Andrle of Blue Hill, Rosemary and husband Lee Corro of Dedham, Jeanne and husband Chuck Fuller of Boothbay, Louisa Hess and Anne Marie Andrle of Buxton; grandchildren Katelyn, Christina, and Eric Andrle, Elise Schellhase, Zachary Corro, Samuel and Mary Fuller, Aurora and Andrea Hess; great-grandchildren Ethan and William Schellhase, and Heidi and Claire Fuller; brother Fred; and sister Virginia Forster.

 

Family and friends may visit 4-7 P.M. Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M. Friday, February 8, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph's Church, 531 North Main St., Brewer. Messages and memories may be shared with the family at kileyandfoley.com
