Deane F. Webster

Orrington - Deane F. Webster, 73, died April 30, 2019 at his home in Orrington after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by his wife, children and his 19-year old cat, Miss Daffy.  He was born Oct. 21, 1945 in Bangor, the son of Francis B. and Alice (Estey) Webster.

Deane grew up in Veazie, graduated from Orono High School in 1964 and earned a degree in Forestry from UMO in 1970.  He served with the Maine Air National Guard for 6 years. He worked as a land surveyor and operated his own business, Maine Land Services, for 38 years. Deane was happiest riding his John Deere tractor, working in the woods, tending his vegetable garden, and tapping trees for maple syrup.  He thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends at their Bottle Lake camp over the last 33 years.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Baum Webster of Orrington; two children, Michael Webster and Meaghan Clapp (husband, Joshua Clapp) and the light of his life, grandson, Tucker Clapp; one brother, Daniel Webster of Windham; nieces, Becca and Christy, as well as ‘bonus children’, Dory and Homer Pare’.

A private burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Veazie Community School Garden Fund, 1040 School Street, Veazie, ME  04401.  A Celebration of Life will be held in Deane’s honor at a later date to be announced.  Arrangements trusted to Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
