Obituary of Kevin Scott Amero

Kevin Scott Amero passed away unexpectedly May 31, 2019 in Bangor. He was born June 2, 1966 to Gary H. Amero and Brenda McDermott. Kevin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. He especially enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots, and enjoyed trips to Fenway Park. Kevin shared his time with both parents and enjoyed summers at Cold Stream Pond and Schoodic Lake, as well as hiking in Baxter State Park. After graduating from Old Town High School, Kevin enlisted in the US Army,where he became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He was quickly promoted to a sergeant and was deployed to Desert Storm. Kevin was a kind and gentle person with a huge loving heart, was always cracking a joke or pulling a prank, and always gave you a smile no matter what he was feeling. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.Besides his parents, Kevin is survived by his stepmother, Cheryl Amero of Nokomis, Florida, sister Kristi Lyford of Hampden, her husband Michael Lyford and their children Ryan Richards, Sarah Richards, and Jennah Lyford, stepsister Lisa Mitchell and family of Old Town, stepsister Carla Knapp and husband Jo-Jo Knapp of Ft. Myers, Florida, very special cousin Alan Amero of Sarasota, Florida, who was more like a brother to him, and many other cousins, aunts, uncles, and life-long friends. Kevin was predeceased by his son, Joey Amero, in 2017. There will be a military graveside service at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Maine, on Friday, July 12, at 1:00pm. Immediately following the service will be a gathering for family and friends at nearby Mill Park. Rest in peace Kevin, your suffering is over.
