Obituary of Marjorie Alfreda Strang

Marjorie Alfreda (Arbo) Strang passed away peacefully, Oct. 14, 2019.  She was born July 24, 1935; daughter of Malcolm and Mabel (Clark) Arbo. Marge grew up in Hampden graduating from Hampden Academy marrying her high school sweetheart, “Richie”.  She loved spending springs, summers and fall with her family and many friends at their camp on Harriman Pond.  One of her favorite pastimes was playing Bridge with her very special group of “golden girls”.  From 1976 until 1996 she and Rich owned and operated MacDonald’s Market in Bangor, retiring to Boynton Beach, Fl., joining the “snowbird” culture.  Marge returned to Maine full time in the Spring of 2016 after the death of her husband.  She was a wonderful hostess and loved to entertain and happiest when surrounded by lots of people.  Marge was never without a most beautiful smile on her face.

 

Marge is predeceased by her husband Richard of 61 years, son Mark and sister Deanna Patterson. She is survived by son Michael Strang and wife Nancy; daughter Kim Achorn and husband Tim; daughter Carol Violette and husband Sam.  Five cherished grandchildren, Jason Achorn and wife Jessica; Alison VanKempen and husband Mark; Rachel Gott and husband Justin; Eric Achorn; and Emily Strang.  Five treasured greatgrandchildren, Calvin, Cole, Thomas, Charlotte and Odessa.  Brothers Ralph Arbo and wife Jeanne; Scott Arbo and wife Karen.  Brother-in-law Glenn Strang and wife Judy.  Brother-in-law Dennis Patterson.  Much-loved nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.  

 

Family and friends may visit 5-8 PM Friday Oct 25, 2019 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Services, 69 State Street, Brewer.  A memorial service honoring Marjorie’s life will be held 11 AM Saturday, Oct 26, 2019 at the North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church, 31 Main Road, Eddington, Pastor Rev. Tracy Reeves, presiding.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be sent to the North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church – 31 Main Road, Eddington, ME 04428.  Messages and memories may be shared with the family at kileyandfoley.com
