Obituary of Rae P. Knowles

Rae P. Knowles, 87, died Nov. 17, 2019 in Brewer after a period of declining health.  She was born July 14, 1932 in Bangor, the daughter of J. Frank and Belva G. (Martin) Richards. Rae grew up in Glenburn and was a dedicated homemaker to her five children. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Maine State Grange and attended church at the Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church.

Surviving are four children, Burgess Knowles, Jr, Aaron Knowles and Johnna Knowles all of Glenburn and Curtis Knowles and his wife, Anne of Brewer; six grandchildren, Jaimee Perry, Alysa Murray, Jenessa Bennett, Christopher and Jared Knowles and Devery Watson; several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her infant son, Devery, her parents, her first husband, Burgess Knowles, Sr. her second husband, Elmer Tilton and by her brothers, George, Murchie and Laurel Richards. Rae’s family gratefully thanks the staff of Beacon Hospice and the Woodlands for their excellent care.

Friends may visit 4 – 6 PM Thursday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer where a service honoring her life will be held at 4 PM Friday, November 22, 2019 with Pastor Steve McDonald, presiding. Burial in the spring will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Glenburn. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Beacon Hospice, 289 State St., Suite B, Bangor, ME  04401.
