Obituary of Elizabeth Marie Feeney

Reston, VA – Elizabeth “Betty” Feeney, 97, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2019, in Reston, Virginia.  She was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick on October 5, 1921, to Adelaide (Gagnon) Bellefleur and Edouard Bellefleur.

In 1945, she married Gregory Feeney.  In 1967, they moved together from New Brunswick to Bangor, Maine to run the kitchen at Dysart’s Truck Stop.  Betty worked for more than 40 years at Dysart’s, where she was known as their best-ever pastry cook and could make up to 30 pies a day.  Over her lifetime she enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family, friends, and cat, Precious.

Surviving are daughter Gail Bowie and husband Larry Bowie of Lee, ME; grandson Brett Scanlan and wife Valerie Carman, of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter Dana Scanlan and husband Paul O’Connor, of Reston, VA; granddaughter Devon Evans, of Worcester, MA; niece Paula Baker and husband Dale Johnston, of New Denmark, NB; niece Dawn Baker of Toronto, ON; great-grandchildren Rowan, Bryce, Gwen, and Emerson.  All surviving family members and friends are left with countless special memories of Betty’s generosity and her big heart.  Betty has now rejoined her late husband Greg; late brother Laurier; and late twin sister, Isabelle, all of whom she sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Feline Foundation of Greater Washington, 11160 C-1 South Lakes Drive #707, Reston, VA  20191.
