Obituary of Madeline Dionne
Madeline Dionne, 90, of Bangor, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2019, at St. Joseph Hospital after a brave battle with Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy. She is remembered for her kindness and love towards all people, her commitment to family, and her impressive memory. Madeline was born on September 15, 1929 to Walter and Leona (Pelletier) Thibeault, and was raised in St. Agatha, Maine on her family's farm. She married Gedeon “Ged” Dionne on February 5, 1951, and was a dedicated homemaker to her family. The couple lived in Aroostook County for many years where they raised three children and eventually moved to Bangor enjoying a 66-year-long marriage. Madeline was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Maine State Golf Association Women' Golf Club, and the Bangor Women's Golf Club. Her favorite pastimes were playing guitar, sewing, cross-country road trips with her husband, baseball, and card games. She especially enjoyed baking for gatherings with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Madeline is survived by her three children, Louise Berg and her husband Raymond Berg, David Dionne and his wife Robin Dionne, and Nicole Tapley and her husband Wayne Tapley; her grandchildren Elena Berg Raymond and her husband Jason Raymond, Jenna Tapley Johnson and her husband Cory Johnson, and Barrett Dionne; her great-grandchildren Phoebe Raymond, Lauryn Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Jordan Johnson, and Kooper Dionne; her siblings Irving Thibeault, Ward Thibeault, Nancy Beaulieu, Sally Martin, and Reynold Thibeault; her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gedeon Dionne, her parents Walter Thibeault and Leona (Pelletier) Thibeault, and her siblings Arlene Babin Spugnardi, Holland Thibeault, Joan Sirois, and Robert Thibeault.
Family and friends are invited to visit 9-10:30am, Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 11am at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St, John's Catholic Church, 217 York St, Bangor. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio St., Bangor. All are invited back to the church hall for a reception following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at mda.org/make-a-donation, or to a charity of one’s choosing.
