I worked with Archie to change guardianship laws in Maine. He was one of the few legislators who really understood the pitfalls of a system that can remove fundamental rights without due process. God Bless you, Archie!

I am sorry for your loss. I very much appreciated Suzie and Todd's remembrance today at the service. I look forward to watching the Walton's, The Homecoming! Though my interactions with Archie were mostly indirect, I do remember him being quietly attentive at his mother's care plan meetings, sisters at his side, and I appreciated watching his work in Augusta this past legislative session. Thank you for sharing Archie with all of us.

Dear Fran,
I want to express my heartfelt condolences to you and your family on your loss. Few people have achieved the position of respect and high esteem which Archie enjoyed for so many years in Brewer. There is no doubt that his passing is a great loss to all who have the privilege of knowing him.
With deepest sympathy,
Dan Lee

To Archies family and to you Fran our condolences from myself and my wife Patsy. We shared many stories and good times together when I served with Archie. He was one person that his word was always what ever he said and meant every word. A person you could always count on to support the older generation and always gave 100% for anyone with a disability. I would have hoped at some time to get to sit with him and go over some issues that are there in the fore front of politics. Archie will be missed by his friends and family and all those persons who could always count on his support, for those in need. May he rest in peace and I will always remember him as a very good friend. Fran do take care and may god help you dealing with the loss of such a special person. Thinking of you at this time of sorrow. Ken and Patsy Theriault. Madawaska Maine.

Dearest Fran,
I am so sorry for the loss of your husband, true love, partner and whom I considered a super brother-in-law and great friend.
It may not seem fair when the Angels came calling for him in such a shocking and sudden manner - even if his presence was required immediately in heaven for a meeting with God to discuss a new position to implement his gift of helping others with a wider scope. It may not be any consolation, but apparently he didn't have to suffer much with the transition to the heavenly place and mentioning that is not is not intended to suggest minimizing the sporadic wrath of pain and limitations of MS complications and other health issues he had to deal with for many years.
It is commendable that you could navigate your own pursuit and passion for child education, raise a family, be an excellent chef with hospitality to bar none with all your tasty dishes, so many birthday parties for the kids, holiday celebrations, turkeys with your outstanding stuffing, bbq's @ Greenwood and Parks Pond, ice skating, sledding & hot cocoa in the winter (tobogganing n wipe outs @ Essex St. Park.) and the spring, summer and fall swimming, boating, fishing, spring water gathering and bluff climbing excursions that I was lucky enough to have had the pleasure to be a part of your family outings for many of my younger years thanks to you and Arch.
It is unprecedented that you were there to help Arch through the struggles and challenges while you were completing your long teaching career, helping raise your grandchildren, pursuing a second career with Homeland security, suffering the loss of a child, beloved Julie, supporting Archie's extended public servant career through the years with countless evening meetings, in many capacities and organizations, your own health issues and weathering through several public campaigns at the same time.
You must be the WonderWoman of Maine... I definitely know you were of that role to Archie, I could see it in his eyes by the way he looked at you. He loved you and he had mentioned to me how grateful he was for all that you did for him more than once.
You are blessed to have had 3 incredible children, 2 fine sons-in-laws that far exceed any expectations a parent could hope for their daughters and 3 wonderful grandchildren, (btw, Suz, Trudy n Lilly seem to have picked up ur culinary skills.) who love you and Arch for all the attention, nurturing and love that was given to them over the years. No question, Arch loved them all and is very proud of their accomplishments as I know you are too.
I received a Christmas card from your house today. It was addressed and signed with that truly distinctive penmanship that is classic Arch. Thank You. I will treasure that card as well as the fam. history he researched from way back.
I wish the Christmas/New Year holiday season will be as pleasant as possible under the circumstances as you are surrounded by the love of your family.
Love and big bear hugs,
Brother Rick

Those are some fine pictures of the Arch.
I was also lucky enough to be included in some of the Verow family outings years ago, participating with, observed and in the recent past decades was kept updated by him or my Sister Fran, of the many family members activities and accomplishments.
Arch was always an amazing, devoted and nurturing father to his children: the late Mrs. Julie O'connor, Mr. Todd Verow and Mrs. Suzie Furrow. I was aware of Archies' expectations that were met and he held high regard for his sons-in-laws: Mr. Tim O'connor and Mr. Mike Furrow. Naturally, he was especially fond of his grandchildren: Ms. Trudy Furrow, Ms. Lilly Furrow and Ms. Abby O'connor. It was obvious Arch the Father, Grandfather and Father-in-Law is so very proud of you all.
Love,
Uncle Rick

To Fran, Suzie,Todd, Mike,Trudy, Lilly, Tim, Abby, Denise, Carol, Kathy, Lois,Danielle, Cindy, George, Ben, Josh, Amanda, Paul and the rest of the Verow related dominion.
It is with much sadness to know of Archie's sudden passing. My heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences to each of you.
Archie will be remembered as one of the most diplomatic, polite and reserved personalities I have had the privilege to know through his dedication & love of my sister Fran for well over 54 yrs.
He will be enormously missed for his exemplary integrity, humbleness and self-deprecating demeanor. He may not have realized how truly special he was to many folks who thought of and spoken of him with affection often.
Arch was one of those honorable, rare and exceptional human beings who touched those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him and know his passion for helping others through his devotion to public service, treating all with respect and he had a keen sense of fairness, professional ethics, humor, fun and mobility despite the burden of MS health challenges. This man has been a great influence in my life and an awesome mentor by observation.
We should be thankful of how incredibly fortunate it is to have been part of his world. We will miss his physical presence, but be comforted by recalling his enthusiasm for life, uplifting spirits that hopefully has been instilled in us all. We are blessed to have so many good memories to reflect upon.
If there was anyone God would receive with open arms, it would be Archie. I would guess he is now greeting his daughter Julie, his Mom Irma, his dad Clem, other relatives and likely some former earthly friends inviting them to join him to go swimming at the Heaven's "Y"
With the utmost respect, admiration and love for "The Arch" I would wish to say so long for now, see you again when my time comes along. At that time I will ask him if this really is the actual place called "Heaven" why do we still have to exercise here too?
