Obituary of Marie M Cust

Marie M. Cust, 86, wife of the late Donald M. Cust, Jr, passed away peacefully on Dec. 26, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. She was born Jan. 13, 1933 in Calais, the daughter of Guy L. and Marguerite (White) Metcalf. Marie was a 1950 graduate of Brewer High School where she met her husband marrying him July 5, 1951. She worked most of her life in retail stores in Bangor including Miller Drug, Senter’s, Cortell-Segal, Ward Bros. and Best Bib & Tucker and could be seen walking the bridges to work, a time during the day that was peaceful. Marie will be remembered by many for being an avid reader and a good friend and listener. She enjoyed many wonderful camping trips through the years with her family, she loved the time spent with her grandchildren especially walks at Indian Trail Park and she enjoyed her flower gardens and sitting on her deck. Surviving are three children, Deborah Cust of Bangor, Dana Cust and his wife, Shawnee of Texas and Jeffrey Cust and his wife, Judith of Bangor; five granddaughters, Jennifer Cust of California, Amanda Cust of Boston, Mass, Liz Cust of Bangor, Sydnee and Taylor Cust of Texas; sisters-in-law, Pauline McLain of Brewer, Rose DiProfio and her husband Gerald of Caribou, Patricia Bartlett and her husband, George of Florida and a brother-in-law, Michael Cust of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and by her husband of 65 years in 2017. She will be remembered by her lifelong friends, Lois and Shirley and will be greatly missed by Gracie, Will, Amelia and Hailie who adopted her as their Gramma. She will also be missed by her grandpets that she loved, Lilly, Stella and Harley. Marie’s family gratefully thanks the staff of Stillwater Healthcare and Hospice of St. Joseph for their wonderful care and compassion. Family and friends may visit 4 – 6 PM Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer where a service honoring her life will be held at 6 PM as the visitation concludes.
