Obituary of Raymond J Griffin, Sr.

Jackman - Raymond J. Griffin, Sr., 74, died Jan. 6, 2020 in Bangor after a period of declining health. He was born Mar. 14, 1945 in Bangor, the son of Reginald A. Griffin Sr. and Jacqueline L. (Read) Griffin. Raymond was most passionate about his family and all New England Sports teams. He is well known for cursing the streets of Jackman in his convertible, “his lawn mower!” He was known for his smile, the slight twinkle in his eye and his good nature. He loved to meet new people, whom he quickly added to his friend list. He was loved and adored by all that met him. He will always be remembered for his friendly charismatic personality! Raymond was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam era. He spent time working in a variety of other occupations such as mechanic, KFC Manager, and in the logging business, but the majority of his adult life was spent being Mr. Mom to his four children who he followed in everything that they did wearing the his proud parent badge! They were the light of his life! Surviving in addition to his wife of 55 years, Lenore (Taylor) Griffin of Jackman are four children, Raymond Griffin Jr. of Jackman, Ryan Griffin of San Diego, CA, Reid Griffin of Westbrook and Robyn Hernandez and her husband, Agustin of Glenburn; four grandchildren, Jordan and Lucas Hernandez of Glenburn and Brady and Beckett Griffin of Westbrook; one brother, Timothy Griffin of Bangor and one sister, Marilyn Wood and her husband, Merle of Hooksett, NH; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Reginald Griffin. A service honoring Raymond’s life will be held 10 AM Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Moose River Congregational Church, 2 Heald Stream Road, Jackman with Pastor Rhonda McNally, presiding. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Forest Hills Sports Boosters, 606 Main St., Jackman, ME 04945.
