Obituary of Kenneth W. Preble

Hampden – Kenneth W. Preble, 86, husband of Sandra A. (Dorr) Preble, died Jan. 6, 2020 in Bangor. He was born June 7, 1933 in Carmel, the son of Erral Preble and Gertrude (Russell) Cohen. Kenneth was a 1951 graduate of Carmel High School and graduated from Maine Vocational Institute, South Portland in 1953. He enlisted in the US Army serving during the Korean War era stationed in Germany. Kenneth worked 40 years for Hannaford in several positions including assistant store manager at Bucksport, retiring from the Brewer store in 1998. He was a member of the American Legion Post #213 and the Whitcomb- Baker VFW Post # 4633 both in Hampden. Surviving in addition to his wife of Hampden are four children, Terry Preble of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Michael Preble and his wife, Nancy of Bangor, Karen Preble of Hampden and Deborah and her husband, Daniel of Winslow; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Preble of Texas and one sister, Jacqueline Scuitto of Springfield, VT; his mother-in-law, Jean Dorr of Bangor; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenneth was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Gordon Preble; two special aunts, Charlotte and Alice Preble; father-in-law, Maxwell Dorr and a brother-in-law, Roger Dorr. Family and friends may visit 3 – 6 PM Friday, January 10, 2020 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Legion Post 213, 462 Main Road South, Hampden or to the Whitcomb-Baker Post 4633, VFW, 41 Canoe Club Road, Hampden, ME 04444.
