Obituary of Janet Elizabeth Sleight
Janet E. Sleight, 69, died February 12, 2020 in Bangor after a period of declining health. She was born July 10, 1950 in Bangor, the daughter of Richard W. and Vera C. (Lynne) Sleight.
As a child, Janet loved to attend Camp Capella, a camp that her mother and other community members had started. She happily engaged in the day activities including horseback riding. Janet’s love of family was first and foremost and she was the ultimate social butterfly. She adored Elvis and could often be seen “dancing” in her wheelchair when Elvis was singing. Janet played the tambourine and the maracas in the chorus at Stillwater Healthcare. Her many friends there cared for and loved her just like family. Janet always had a beautiful smile and a big hug for everyone. Our loving angel will be missed.
Surviving are one brother, David Sleight and Linda Halstead of Hudson and three sisters, Linda Burns and her husband, Del of Hudson, Marilyn Rohr of Norco, CA and Sheila Hoffman and her husband, Craig of Riverside, CA; a loving sister-in-law, Debbie Sleight; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and by two brothers, Richard Sleight, Jr and Donald Sleight.
Burial is planned for a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor and messages and memories may be share with her family at kileyandfoley.com.
