Obituary of Alice Robinson Day
Alice Robinson Day, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 13, 2020 after a long courageous battle with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer of the bone marrow. She was born in Ellsworth on March 23, 1946 to Oliver and Alice (Dolliver) Robinson.
She grew up in Manset/Southwest Harbor graduating from Pemetic High School and earned a degree from Husson College. On May 7, 1966 she married George Peter Day at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bangor. They were blessed with three boys and spent many happy years at their home in Bangor and camp on Beech Hill Pond. She loved her family and was an active volunteer for the boys’ many activities; scouting, including being a Den Mother; sports, providing countless rides to football, track, and swim team practices; and other school events. She enjoyed gardening and adopting and caring for cats that needed special love. She was also an avid tennis player becoming a member of the USTA. She enjoyed playing with her tennis "ladies" both recreationally at Bangor Indoor Tennis teams and competitively with USTA teams. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Sylvia Jones; brother-in-law, Terrence Cassidy; and sister-in-law, Loretta Robinson.
Alice is survived by her husband of 53 years, Peter; three brothers, Albert and his wife Brenda; Reverends James and Dee Robinson; and Lawrence; three sons, Steven and his wife, Paula of Turner; Christopher and Shiella of Bangor; Timothy and his wife, Elizabeth of Benton. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Megan and her husband Bernard Cannavan; George Christopher and his wife Emily; Abigail and her fiance Cole Miller; Jack, Ainsley, Colin, and Kiera; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by an amazing sister-in-law, Penny Cassidy and special friend Jane W. Hausmann.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Astrid Andreescu, the nurses, and all the staff at Lafayette Family Cancer Center for the professional and compassionate care they provided to Alice for over seven years of treatment. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Alice's memory may be sent to The Ark Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 276, Cherryfield, ME 04622.
