Obituary of Wanda M. Lyford-Moran
Bangor - Wanda Lyford-Moran, wife, mother, teacher, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and friend died peacefully on March 23, 2020 in Bangor after 79 inspired years on Earth. Wanda was born to Red and Louise Angove in Milo on June 25, 1940, and from day one, lived life as if she had to do the things others told her she could not. She survived a life-threatening birth defect, spent years at a Shriners Hospital, raised five children, put herself through college at Husson, taught high school & college, built a thriving accounting practice, and bought Allied Glass, so that in her spare time, she could install windshields and glaze windows. Those who loved her remember her as determined, smart, generous, empathetic, funny, and strong and often remark that she was “once-in-a-lifetime”. Amazing doesn’t capture the essence of who Wanda was and the indelible legacy she leaves which lives on the family she built.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Moran; and by five children, Darrell Lyford and wife Donna of Bangor, Lisa Holmes and Greg of Bangor, Michael Lyford and partner Linda of Pittston, Anthony Lyford and wife Barbie of Kenduskeag and Corey Moran and partner Joey of New York City. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, DJ, Danny, Courtney, Sean, Merilee, Jeremy, Heather, Matthew, Chip, Aimee, and 9 great grandchildren, Lucas, Elliot, Daniel Jr., Denisha, Claire, Aria, Roman, Gabriel, and Tulia. She was predeceased by her former husband Austin Lyford and a grandson, Ryan Lyford.
A celebration of her life for all friends will take place in the summer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to one of Wanda’s beloved charities, The Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements trusted to Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor and messages and memories may be shared with her family at kileyandfoley.com.
