Obituary of Edward S. Hamm

Bangor - Edward S. Hamm, 78, husband of Bonnie A. (Redman) Hamm, died March 25, 2020 in Bangor after a brief illness surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 20, 1941 in Brewer, the son of Elbridge M. and Anna M. (Somers) Hamm. Edward was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1959 and served with the US Air Force from 1960 to 1966. He spent his working career in the Bangor area, was a longtime resident of Bangor and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Ed was a member and Past Master of the Rising Virtue Lodge #10, A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree mason, Anah Temple Shrine and York Rite. He was a consummate New England sports fan who enjoyed watching the Red Sox and the Patriots. Surviving in addition to his wife of Bangor are three children, Kimberly Colavito and her husband, Tom of Holden, Melinda Jones and her husband, Larry of Bar Harbor and Jonathon Hamm and his wife, Jill of Bangor; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Colavito) Galinski, Anthony Colavito, Michael and Jennifer Colavito, Jacob King, Jasmine and Jackson Hamm; one great grandchild, Isabella G. Colavito; one brother, Eugene H. Hamm and his wife, Pamela of Yulee, Florida; one sister, Kathleen C. Wade and husband George of Newport News, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Ronald P. Redman and his wife, Kay of Bangor and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three siblings, Elbridge M. Hamm, Jr., Charles E. Hamm and Evelyn A. Neff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, York St., Bangor. Burial with military honors will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.

A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John's Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor at a later date to be announced here and in the Bangor Daily News.
