Obituary of Wayne A. Babb
Wayne A. Babb, 81, husband of Helen (Smith) Babb, died June 13, 2020 at his home in Orono after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 8, 1938 in Hudson, the son of Wilbur A. and Doris L. (Veazie) Babb, Sr.
Wayne was a mental health worker at Bangor Mental Health Inst. (now Dorthea Dix Center) for more than 30 years. Orono was his home but he spent his winters in Florida. Wayne enjoyed reading the Bible and was the organist at Great Works Baptist Church for 25 years. It was always a treat to be around Wayne because he was awesome!
Surviving in addition to his wife of 63 years is his daughter, Tina Whitney and his son, Ty Babb and his wife, Lyn; grandchildren, Preston Jarvis, Amanda Harold and her husband, Joshua, Rebecca Bryant and her husband, Nicholas and Megan Ouellette and her husband, Nathan; great grandchildren, Taylor Harold, Emma Harold and Kaylin Bryant; his sister, Gloria Hawkins; a sister-in-law, Avis Babb; his half siblings, Donna Libby, Debbie, Dennis and David Babb; several nieces and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by a son, Anthony Babb, by two brothers and two sisters, Wilbur Babb, Jr. and Theodore Babb, Lillian Strout and Betty Sabine.
Wayne’s family is planning a celebration of his life at 11 AM Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Babb Home, 9 Old Kelley Ave., Orono with Pastor Brian Eggert, pastor of the Old Town Fellowship Christian Church and Chaplain of the PCSO, presiding. A time of refreshments and fellowship will be held immediately afterward.
