Obituary of Joseph W. Moore
Topsfield - Joseph W. Moore, 62, of Topsfield, Maine passed away unexpectedly at Northern Light EMMC in Bangor on June 28, 2020. He was born December 18, 1957 in Waite, Maine to William and Wilhelmina “Winnie” Moore.
Joe married his wife Sherri on October 24, 1981. They resided and raised their family in Topsfield, Maine in a home that Joe built himself from the ground up. He had recently sold his lifelong home in Topsfield and purchased a new property in Hermon, Maine, where he was looking forward to spending his retirement years. Joe was a very hard-working man who never stopped. He was an extremely talented self-taught mechanic and auto body technician and painter. He was known as a jack-of-all trades with an entrepreneurial spirit. He owned a small auto repair business in Topsfield for many years and was well known for being able to fix anything. While maintaining his own garage, he also worked for a number of years at Beauregard Equipment in Hermon, Maine as a heavy equipment mechanic. After his time working there he started his own heavy equipment repair business, Tri-State Equipment Service & Repair. Joe was also a skilled equipment operator and had another side business with his equipment installing wells, septics, and doing various ground work. His most recent business venture was in 2014 when he purchased a restaurant in Brewer, Maine with his best friend Meghan and turned it into Humble Comfort Food & Spirits. He helped renovate the inside of the restaurant and could be found doing anything from being hostess, to making the biscuits. Joe worked hard his entire life, teaching both of his children the importance of a having strong work ethic. Joe was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Registered Master Maine Guide. His children recall many weekends when they were younger in the boat fishing, baiting bears, or hunting with their father. Him and his late wife Sherri enjoyed many summers at their beloved camp on Spednic Lake. They both also had a love of Labrador retrievers and his chocolate lab Telula was with him everywhere he went.
He is survived by his son, Joshua Fogg and wife Tisha of Brookton, Maine and their children Nathan, Faith, & Connor; as well as a daughter, Wendy Higgins and husband Kris of Calais, Maine and their children Rachel & Kenzie. He is also survived by brothers Raymond Moore and wife Wendy of Carmel, Maine, John Moore and wife Stacy of Topsfield, Maine, Jim Moore and wife Donna of Springfield, Maine, one sister, Jean Burrill and husband John of Codyville, Maine; and a special sister-in law Ellie Hanscom of Lincoln, Maine. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved, including a special nephew, JJ Burrill & partner Marie Gilman of Topsfield, Maine; and a special niece Rae-Lynn Crawford and husband Robin of Mattimiscontis, Maine. He also leaves behind four very special friends who were always there for him, Meghan Black, Frank Pulver, Steven Rhoades, and Greg “the bear hunter”. He was predeceased by his wife Sherri Moore, both of his parents, a sister Deborah, a twin brother, and a special nephew, Shawn Burrill.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, July 11, 2020 at John & Jean Burrill’s camp in Kossuth, Maine.
