Obituary
Obituary of Lawrence E. Aldworth
The world has lost a beautiful soul. Loving father, husband and creative force of nature, Larry’s fun-loving spirit touched all who knew him. We will always remember him as the guy who went skydiving for fun, sprayed the Christmas tree with silly string, and carved home-grown zucchinis instead of pumpkins on Halloween. His homes were always full of art supplies, littered with oil paints, watercolors and all kinds of papers and canvasses. He created an environment for his children to thrive and grow into their creative selves.
Lawrence Eugene Aldworth was born in Oak Park, IL. The 8th of 10 children to James Peat Aldworth and Rhodi English Aldworth, he moved with his family to Westport, CT in 1966. In 1977 he moved to Naples, FL to complete his grade school years and eventually earned his degree in Communication and Media Studies at Florida State University in 1985.
He took his skills to Denver, CO where he became a highly respected Copywriter. His print ads, tv and radio commercials won him numerous honors and awards including twenty-plus Gold, Silver and Bronze awards from the Denver Advertising Federation, Art Directors Club of Denver, Telly’s, Clio Awards, Gannett Awards and Silver Microphone to name a few. His imagination and witty sense of humor gained him fast friends and the deserving respect of the colleagues he mentored. He was described as “all the things a good writer has to be…a student of the human condition, a sponge of all things informational, a quick and agile mind, a craftsman of the English language, a hybrid of engineer and evangelist, a listener, a candid and forthright advocate of ideas and values, a good teammate, and an honest soul. Larry is one of those people where you end up remembering him and acknowledging his contributions by saying, Y’know, I really liked that guy.”
Larry later moved to Bangor, ME where he continued his career freelancing with his own firm “Aldworth Creative”.
Larry is survived by his daughters Katie and Maggie Aldworth, their mother Barbara Haight Aldworth, siblings Julie McClenathan, Amy Steiner, Eileen Drager, Joe Aldworth, John Aldworth, Kathleen Aldworth, Michael Timothy Aldworth and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Christine Erin Aldworth, brothers Jim and Steve Aldworth, father James Aldworth, mother Rhodi English Aldworth, and nephew Scott McClenathan.
The family is planning a private services and requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating in Larry’s name to CHCS Services, Inc, 42 Cedar St., Bangor, ME 04401
