Obituary of Floyd Donald Landry

Brewer—Lt. Col. Floyd D Landry, USAF Ret., passed away peacefully in his sleep April 10, 2016. He was born June 10, 1930, in Brewer to the late George W. Landry Sr. and Ruth (Gaines) Landry. Floyd graduated from Brewer High School and went on the enlist in the United States Air Force in 1947. He served active duty during the Korean War and was a member of the Maine Air National Guard, eventually reaching the rank of Lt. Colonel. He retired in 1985. After his retirement, Floyd began a second career as a real estate agent for several Bangor real estate agencies. He was recognized in 1989 by the ERA Round Table for sales in excess of $2 million. He served on the board of directors for several real estate groups, as well as the Planning Board for the City of Brewer. Floyd was a regular customer at the Brewer McDonald’s and Coach House Restaurant. He enjoyed playing poker with his Tuesday night poker buddies. His presence will be greatly missed by the poker group and his coffee buddies. Floyd was predeceased by his parents; his wife Rosemary (LePage); youngest son Christopher; brothers Robert and Howard; sisters Patricia Connolly and Lorraine Veves; special daughter-in-law Patti (Nelligan) Landry. He is survived by sons Steve and wife Canri of Monterey, CA, Larry and wife Sylvia of Charlotte, NC, Mike and wife Maria of York, PA, Tom and wife RoseMary of Carmel; brothers George Landry Jr. and wife Jean of Hampden, Paul Landry and Roz of Damariscota; sister Ruthie Spellman and husband Rollie of Brewer; grandson Chris Landry; granddaughter Kristen Landry; special friend Debbie Brunelle; many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor, followed by a burial with full military honors at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A reception will take place at the church following the burial.
