Kalliope “Hopie” P. Montgomery

Bangor – Kalliope “Hopie” P. Montgomery, 79, wife of John N. “Jack” Montgomery, died April 14, 2016 at her home in Bangor. She was born Sept. 30, 1936 in Bangor, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Servetis) Predaris.

Hopie, as she was known, was a 1954 graduate of Bangor High School and graduated from Husson College and worked as a bookkeeper, secretary and office manager in financial services and investments for Pierce, White and Drummond and later for Means Investments. Hopie was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Bangor and was involved in various areas of church life. She served on the parish council, served on many church committees and was a member of the Philoptochos Society. She was a member of the Patawa Club and was a former secretary of the Maine Snowmobile Association.

Surviving are her husband, John “Jack” Montgomery of Bangor; one brother, Peter Predaris and his wife, Nancy of Manchester, NH; nieces and nephews, Kalliope Predaris, Karen Tousignant and her husband, David, James Laliberte and his wife, Donna all of New Hampshire; Joseph Martin, Annette Daley, Kathy Martin, Lisa Jennings, Kristen Nichols and Devon Gutherie.

Family and friends may visit 5 – 7 PM Monday, April 18, 2016 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor where a Trisagion service will be held at 7 PM. A funeral liturgy will be held 11 AM Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 90 Sanford St., Bangor with the Rev. Leo Schefe, presbyter, presiding. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 90 Sanford St., Bangor, ME 04401.
