Patricia B. Homsted
Brewer - Patricia B. Homsted, 72, wife of Larry Homsted, died April 18, 2016 in Bangor after a brief illness. She was born July 6, 1943 in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Harry H. and Edra (Fernald) Burr.
Pat was raised on Mt. Desert Island, graduated from Bar Harbor High School, class of 1961 and Husson College, class of 1963. Pat worked briefly in the law office for David and Robert Cox, she married Larry Homsted in June 1964 and they started a family. Pat also worked for several years in The Brewer Regional Program in the Brewer School Department. She was a 46 year member of the First Congregational Church of Brewer serving on various committees and was the Church Librarian of more than 25 years. Pat was also a member of the Kings Daughters & Sons and the Women’s Fellowship group. She enjoyed many things including any place on the coast of Maine, lobsters and clams, reading, knitting, cross stitching and various other crafts and she liked to go to the “slots.” Pat loved cats, Peek, ABoo, Abby and Bandit to name a few. But most of all, she loved her family. Pat’s family gratefully thanks Dr. Adam Lauer, Amanda and Omekia of Twin City Family Medicine. You are very special people. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, CNA’s and staff of the 5th Floor CPCU at St. Joseph Hospital. You are the perfect exemplification of compassionate care.
Surviving in addition to her husband of Brewer are two children, Melissa Young and her husband, David of Eddington and Scott Homsted and his wife, Dana of Milo; two grandchildren, Andrew of Milo and Ashley Farley and her husband, Tyler of San Diego, CA; nephews, Lawrence Abbott of Hancock and Robert and Diana Abbott of Bar Harbor; cousin, Bruce Fernald and wife, Judy of East Millinocket; Many friends too numerous to name for fear of missing someone. She was predeceased by her parents and by a sister, Jean Abbott and her husband, Lawrence of Bar Harbor.
Pat requested that services be private. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Brewer Public Library Childrens, Room, 100 South Main St., Brewer, ME 04412, the American Red Cross, Armed Forces Emergency Services, 900 Hammond St., Bangor, ME 04401 or to a charity of choice.
