Obituary of Priscilla A. Rollins

                                                     RECORDED SERVICE

Priscilla A. Rollins, 86, wife of the late Richard L. Rollins, Sr., passed away peacefully September 7, 2021 surrounded by family, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.  Priscilla was born April 22, 1935 in Danforth, the daughter of Samuel A. and Charlotte (Neal) Hafford.

Priscilla grew up in Danforth.  She was one of 13 children, so she learned at a young age the importance of surrounding yourself with family.  After graduating from high school, she moved to Bangor and started a career in bookkeeping, working for Sullivan Ford Sales, The Boston Store and eventually retiring from Eastern Maine Medical Center after 27 years as the Accounts Payable Supervisor.

After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She found a second “volunteer” career at Sarah’s House in Holden.  As a woman living with bone cancer, she was an inspiration to her fellow volunteers and the guests staying there.  She could be found helping with bookkeeping, cleaning rooms, and doing laundry.  She was rather famous for her ability to fold a fitted sheet.   Priscilla volunteered more than 1,200 hours at Sarah’s House, earning her the 2019 Amanda Dempsey Award for volunteering.  She was treated with such kindness by the Dempsey Family at the 2019 Dempsey Challenge.  She kept a picture of her and Patrick in her living room to make the other ladies in the building jealous.

Priscilla was predeceased by 11 of her siblings: Clair, Harold, Robert, Mandy, Gerry, Elaine, Alton, Phillip, Bruce, Arnold, Dale and a daughter-in-law, Karen Young.  She is survived by one sister, Phyllis Moody of Brewer; her six children, Royce Rollins of Rocksboro, NC, Duane Young of Hampden, Deborah Leighton and her husband Jerry of Bangor, Richard Rollins, Jr. and his wife Judy of Hampden, Delores Landry and her husband David of Hampden and Dennis Rollins and his wife Carmen of Stonington.  She loved her 16 grandchildren Royce, Jeremy, Duane II, Daniel, Nicole, David, Joshua, Greg, Scott, Lisa, Seth, Marc, Laura, Mary, Evan and Paige. She even welcomed 16 great grandchildren into her arms.  “Aunt Priscilla” was also showered with love from her many nieces and nephews who thought of her as a second mom.  She will be missed by her dear friend of many years and roommate at Woodland’s Senior Living, Valla Hall.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank-you to the staff of Woodland’s Senior Living in Brewer for their tender and loving care of Mom and our entire family in her final days.  There were so many wonderful caregivers from Beacon Hospice however, she held a special place in her heart for Mary Rowe and especially Heidi Doane.  Knowing how much she loved them gave the family great comfort when they weren’t able to visit in person.

Friends and family may visit 4:00-7:00PM Monday, September 13, 2021 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union Street, Bangor where a service honoring Priscilla’s life will be held at 10:00AM Tuesday with Pastor Tracy Reeves, presiding and LIVESTREAMED HERE  A time of reception will immediately follow at Season’s Restaurant, 427 Main Street, Bangor.  A private family burial will be held at a later time.  Although masks are not required, those attending are invited to do what is necessary for their own comfort.
