Obituary of Roy F. Dame

Roy F. Dame, 74, husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Dame, died Sunday, January 16, 2022 at MDI Hospital in Bar Harbor after a two year battle with cancer.  He was born Nov. 15, 1947 in Chelsea, MA, the son of Roy C. and Bjorg (Michelson) Dame.

Roy was a 1965 graduate of North Reading High School in Massachusetts.  He served 4 years with the US Air Force during the Vietnam era in Guam and Korea, and eventually was stationed at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor.  Roy worked for UPS for 31 years, retiring in 2004.  During his retirement years, he worked for Darlings in Bangor shuttling vehicles. Roy was a proud Norwegian, and spent his 3rd grade school year living in Norway.  He was an avid golfer, and a lifelong New England sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox.  Roy cherished his 5 grandchildren and being known as "Bestefar" to them.

Roy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty, of Brewer; his two daughters, Erica Dow and her husband, Jad of Southwest Harbor, and Kristen Carrier and her husband, Ashley of Groton, MA; 5 grandchildren, Seth, Katie and Claire Dow, Shane and Leah Carrier; one sister, Tone Crossman and her husband, Robert of Plaistow, NH; nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as family in Norway.  He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother, Robert Dame.

A celebration of  Roy's life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.  The family invites you to join them following the service for a reception at Dysart's Event Center at the corner of the Griffin Road and Broadway in Bangor​​​​​​​. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.  For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 350,WestbrookME 040923438 or at cancer.org  Messages and memories may be shared with his family at kileyandfoley.com.
