Obituary of Dorothy A. Dickey

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dorothy “Dot” (Delano) Dickey, of East Millinocket, went home to Jesus on January 31, 2022. She was born May 16th, 1927, to Dura and Mildred Delano.

Dot was a woman of faith, who had a fierce love of cats, and an incredible talent for knitting. She loved spending time with her family and anyone who was to visit her would be sure to find a puzzle in the works and a full dish of candy on the table. Even in her later years, as her mind started to wander, Dot remained strong in her belief in The Lord. She was always pleasant, and her sense of humor never left her.

She is survived by her sons, Frank and Belinda Gleason; Gerald and Elizabeth Gleason; Mark Gleason; her daughter, Rachele Hafford; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Gleason; grandchildren, Donna, JR, Ethan, Kristine, Stacey, Joe, Lynn, Charles, Tammy, Ronni, Sue, Rachele, Ashley and Emily; 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; a brother, Clinton Delano; sister-in-law, Charlotte Delano; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Shirley and Chris Wise. Dot was predeceased by her parents; her husband, George (Junior) Dickey; a son Jimmy; a daughter, Kathy; sons-in-law, Bob and Alan; brothers, Dura, Gordon, Lawrence, Perley and Francis; a sister, Marion; infant grandson, "baby boy”; and granddaughter, Judy. Dot will be especially missed by her faithful companion and loving cat, Layla.

The family wishes to thank CHCS, her nurse Jill, and aide, Donna for helping keep Dot home where she wanted to stay and was comfortable in her final weeks.

Those who wish to remember Dot in a special way can make monetary gifts in her memory to Waiting Whiskers, P.O Box 221 Sherman, ME 04776. A graveside service will be held, in the spring, at the East Millinocket Cemetery.
