Barbara G. Werkowski, 91, wife of Robert B. Werkowski, died peacefully March 10, 2022 in Bangor surrounded by loved ones after a period of declining health. She was born February 23, 1931 in Bangor, the daughter of Carl and Rachel (Doane) Bothwick.

Barbara was a graduate of Brewer High School class of 1949. She enjoyed living in Japan and Okinawa when Bob was stationed there from 1963 to 1967. While in Japan she took professional cake decorating classes and enjoyed making beautifully decorated cakes for family and friends.  After relocating to Derby, Kansas, she was active in Girl Scouts as a Troop Leader. She enjoyed sewing and gardening or “digging in the dirt” as she called it. Barbara loved animals and had many cats and dogs over the years. After Bob retired, they spent 16 winters in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Surviving in addition to her husband of Brewer are three daughters, Sandra Thompson and her husband, Rex of Prospect, Nancy Werkowski and Don Kennedy of Bangor and Brenda Brooks and her husband, Larry of Brewer; two grandsons, Samuel Thompson of Prospect and Steven Brooks of Bangor; cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and by one brother, Franklin Bothwick and by a sister, Patricia Grant. Barbara’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Eastside Center for Health & Rehabilitation for the care and compassion they showed while she was in their care.

A graveside service will be held later in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt.
