Obituary of Sara Jane Roy
East Milllinocket - It is with a heavy heart that we announce Sara Jane Roy passed away on April 11, 2022, a day shy of her 76th birthday. She will be missed beyond words. Sara was born on April 12, 1946 to Leo and Cecelia (Chaplin) LeVasseur in Millinocket, Maine.
She graduated from Houlton High School in 1964, married her husband, Richard Roy, Sr., on May 8, 1965 and the two soon began working on their family of five. There was nothing Sara couldn’t do but her passion was cooking. She was ‘like a Mom’ to countless friends of her three children and cooked for anyone who visited their home. Everyone always felt welcome, comfortable, and cared for. She also enjoyed quilting, researching her ancestry and local native tribes, and winning any card game she could get others to play.
Sara is joining her mother and father, brother, Eddie, and his wife, Jeanette. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Rick, and children, Richard “Rick” (D’Ann) Roy, Jr., Denise (David) MacNeill, and Rene (Michelle) Roy. She will always be Marvelous Meme to Morgan, Taylor, Mikayla, Hayley, Nathan, and John. She is also survived by sisters, Barbara (Randy) Mooers and Patty LeVasseur, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who helped Sara over the years, with a special thank you to Donna Graham and Cathy Delodge. Our extreme gratitude goes to Shean Crosby who has always gone above and beyond to help Sara and Rick.
At Sara’s request and true to her sense of humor and personality, an old-fashioned Irish Wake will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 18, 2022 at East Branch Sno-Rovers Club, Hathaway Road, East Millinocket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Charities of Maine, P.O. Box 10660, Portland, ME 04104-6060 or at ccmaine.org/donate. Arrangements trusted to Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, Bangor and Brewer. Messages and memories may be shared with her family on the tribute wall of kileyandfoley.com.
