Obituary of Robert B. Spellman
Robert B. Spellman, Jr., 57, died peacefully of pneumonia with his sister, brother-in- law and friend, Arthur by his side on May 14, 2022 in Portland. He was born April 26, 1965 in Bangor, the son of Robert B. and Delma J. (Whitten) Spellman.
Rob grew up in Brewer and graduated from Brewer High School in 1983. He also was a 1989 graduate of the Univ. of Maine and a 1993 graduate of Western Michigan Thomas Cooley School of Law. He worked as an appeals specialist for Unum Insurance for 20 years. Rob loved music especially the classic rock of the 80s and was a drummer in his early years playing in local bands. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. He also loved watching Mash. Rob enjoyed gathering with friends at Romeo’s Sports Bar and Grill in Scarborough.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Delma Spellman. Surviving is one sister, Susan Stitham and her husband, Gordon of Orrington; two nieces, Jennifer Vachon and her husband, David, Emily McIntosh and her husband, Jeffrey and a nephew, Cory Stitham and his wife, Sarah; grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Dr.’s and nurses at Maine Medical Center’s ICU for their compassionate care.
Family and friends may visit 5 – 7 PM Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A funeral liturgy and service honoring Robert’s life will be held at 7 PM as the visitation concludes.
