Charlene Butterfield

Obituary of Charlene E. Butterfield

Charlene E. Butterfield passed away on May 22, 2022, at the age of 75. She was born on March 15, 1947, the daughter of Charles and Ruth Arnold. She was raised on Mount Desert Island with her three sisters and brother. She graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1965.

On October 22, 1966, she married the love her life Cary Butterfield and together they started their life in Clifton, Maine. In June of 1969 she gave birth to their daughter Michelle. Charlene held several jobs throughout the years but found her calling when she started working at ABC Preschool and Daycare, where she was known as the beloved Mrs. Charlene.

Charlene’s greatest joy in life was her family. She enjoyed spending time at “The Point,” A family camp on Chemo Pond where friends and family would gather on warm, sunny days in the summer. On crisp weekend nights in the fall, you could find her surrounded by her favorite people up to hunting camp where she and her husband would throw potluck dinners. It was the holidays, however, when Charlene thrived. She would spend hours planning and cooking beautiful meals for her family to gather around.

Charlene spent the last few years of her life at Brewer Rehab Facility. Although these were the most challenging years of her life, she made friends of a lifetime with the other patients and staff.

Charlene will be greatly missed by her husband Cary Butterfield; daughter, Michelle Libby; Grandchildren, Tyler and Megan Libby; sisters Gayle Tucker and Sharon Arnold along with her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Ruth Arnold; her brother Chuckie Arnold; sister, Cheryl Richardson; and son- in-law, Rich Libby.
